On August 1, 2008, Yolo Sun approached Woodland City Manager Mark Deven about its questions pertaining to development of the new Rite-Aid store at Main and East Streets, in apparent violation of Woodland’s Downtown Specific Plan, as well as about its questions regarding revelations that development of this Rite-Aid store is directly linked to the Gateway Project on the City’s outskirts. (Please see several news reports and opinion columns, below.) Paul Petrovich is the developer of both projects.

Yolo Sun also has questions regarding the nature of the relationship between the City of Woodland and developer Paul Petrovich, as reflected in the development agreement for the Gateway Project and the City’s actions regarding the Downtown Specific Plan.

Yolo Sun requested that Deven authorize its intended discussions with four members of City staff:  the community development director, the economic development manager, the redevelopment manager and the senior planner.

Deven advised that he would prefer that he and the community development director interview these three other staff members about the relevant circumstances, and then make a joint report in a timely meeting with Yolo Sun, which has agreed to this format.

Yolo Sun expects to be able to soon present the results of these further investigations and analyses.
